Dentist Trance

Afraid of going to the dentist? You can change that!

Based on binaural beats technology, it is also possible to make a visit to the dentist much more pleasant. This is achieved by performing the treatment while the patient is in a trance. It sounds crazy, but it works.

Actually, a visit to the dentist is harmless, because if it hurts, there's an anesthetic injection...
But it's not quite that simple. Depending on the treatment, the background noise is more reminiscent of a horror movie, and the tools can be intimidating. And it's only a small hole in a tooth. But when the dentist enters the treatment room ready for a jaw surgery, it's a different story. Not for the faint of heart.

Without dentists, we would be in a much worse position, because everyone is happy when their toothache stops. However, the time spent at the dentist can be very unpleasant, especially if people have had negative experiences in the past. If you look at dental treatment systematically, you can divide it into two levels. The actual procedure that has to be performed and the psychological trauma that can be associated with it. This is precisely where we can start and make the treatment much more pleasant for both patients and doctors.

Below, you will find the "DentistHypno App" for Android phones and also an mp3 file to download. Both the app and the audio file do exactly the same thing - put you into a trance so that you don't notice much of the treatment. This works best when using in-ear headphones and an eye mask. In order to drift fully into the trance, it is advisable to inform the treating dentist that he or she should insert a mouth wedge so that you do not have to concentrate on keeping your jaw open.

In the foreground, you hear the sound of the sea, which is louder than the binaural beats. Binaural beats in the background slowly lower your brain frequency until you reach a state of dreamless sleep. In 60 minutes, you will be gently guided into a trance and then awakened again. It is best practice to put on the headphones and an eye mask before the treatment starts and ask the dentist for a few minutes head start. This way, you will drift into a trance before the treatment really begins. The 60-minute trance is long enough even for major procedures.

Think of it this way:
A visit to the dentist without the trance is like sipping a cocktail and enjoying its full flavor. During a dental visit in trance, you watch someone drinking a cocktail from a distance and think to yourself, that must be delicious! But your consciousness is so far removed from the treatment that you don't notice much of it. Just like the cocktail you see in the distance.

Please use headphones and put on the eye mask!
The headphones block out background noise and the eye mask prevents you from seeing the tools being used. This prevents your mind from racing, making the treatment much more relaxing. The trance also reduces pain perception. The ancient Egyptians used similar techniques to perform open-head surgery. Today, we can use this to make visits to the dentist more pleasant.
More pleasant not only for the patient, but also for the practice staff. This is because the dentist can concentrate fully on the problem at hand and does not have to manage a frightened patient. This also speeds up the treatment! It's a win-win situation for both sides.

Inform the person treating you beforehand that you will be putting yourself into a trance and remember the head start. Depending on how well the trance works for you, it may be necessary for the dentist to wake you up after the treatment. A gentle shake of the shoulder is usually sufficient. Once you are familiar with the trance, you will be amazed at how quickly a visit to the dentist can pass ;-)

For minor procedures, the trance may be sufficient. Approach the subject carefully and, if in doubt, opt for anesthesia...
